Sri Lanka, March 1 -- The auction for 14 luxury vehicles, six decommissioned vehicles, and spare parts belonging to the Presidential Secretariat was held yesterday (28) as part of efforts to cut government expenditure and promote financial accountability.

Fifteen vehicles, including nine Defender Jeeps, a Volvo Jeep, a Chrysler car, a Mahindra Bolero, a Rosa bus, a Discovery, and a Toyota car, were auctioned, while the remaining vehicles will be sold in a future auction.

These vehicles were not assigned to the regular staff of the Presidential Secretariat but were used by advisors and staff appointed by the former President under Article 41 (1) of the Constitution.
