Sri Lanka, Jan. 20 -- Parliament meets at 9:30 am today under Speaker Dr Jagath Wickramaratne to debate the Aswesuma welfare benefit payment scheme. A proposal for a special committee to study the lack of preparedness for Cyclone Ditwah and submit recommendations reaches the house for approval tomorrow. Following these proceedings, the opposition leads an adjournment debate regarding the current situation in the aftermath of the storm.
