Sri Lanka, Feb. 6 -- The All Share Price Index (ASPI) of the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) closed on a positive note today, rising by 50.63 points (0.31%) to end at 16,506.73. This was driven by price gains in stocks like Sampath Bank, DFCC Bank, and C T Holdings, with the total turnover crossing Rs. 5.1 billion.

The S&P SL20 index showed similar gains, reflecting the positive market sentiment. High net worth and institutional investors were particularly active in Amana Bank, Access Engineering, and Teejay Lanka. Retail interest was noted in stocks such as LOLC Finance, Waskaduwa Beach Resort, and Dialog Axiata.

Despite the positive close, foreign participation remained subdued, with foreigners closing as net sellers.
