Sri Lanka, Sept. 2 -- A Sri Lankan Army Lieutenant Colonel has been arrested by the Victim and Witness Protection Division of the police for allegedly threatening a witness in a court case.

The 49-year-old officer, a resident of Mawathagama, serves in the 57th Division of the Army.

Police stated that he threatened a witness who resides in Verugal.

According to a senior officer from the division, the threats were related to two cases pending before the Homagama Magistrate's Court and the Colombo High Court.
