Sri Lanka, Jan. 20 -- The Court of Appeal ordered that the writ applications filed by Venerable Balangoda Kassapa Thera and another monk be recalled on the 22nd of this month.

These petitions seek an order to invalidate the remand ruling previously issued by the Trincomalee Magistrate.

Trincomalee Chief Magistrate S.M.S. Samsudeen ordered yesterday (19) that ten individuals, including the monks, remain in custody until January 22.

This legal action follows allegations regarding an unauthorised construction intended for the placement of a Buddha statue at the Trincomalee Sri Sambuddha Jayanti Bodhiraja Temple.
