Srilanka, Nov. 13 -- Farmers in Gal Oya, Ampara, complain that the government fertiliser subsidy has not been received yet, despite the start of this year's Maha cultivating season.

They stated that the lack of necessary fertiliser risks them not achieving the expected harvest this Maha season. Meanwhile, in protest against the government failing to provide a fair price for onions, opposition council members of the Dambulla Pradeshiya Sabha arrived at the council this morning wearing garlands made of big onions.

Subsequently, a heated situation arose in the General Assembly meeting as arguments and debates took place regarding the issue of big onions.
