Sri Lanka, July 6 -- The two National People's Power (NPP) members of the Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha, who were allegedly kidnapped, appeared publicly for the first time yesterday (5).

During a press conference in Weligama, Ajith Priyantha and Kamani Alwis expressed suspicions that the woman who previously claimed to be an eyewitness to their abduction might have had prior knowledge of the incident.

The alleged kidnapping of the two NPP councillors caused significant controversy just before the inaugural session of the Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha recently, leading to the postponement of council proceedings on that day.

The police later stated that the two members were found in the Devata area of Galle.
