Srilanka, Nov. 27 -- All spill gates of the Yan Oya Reservoir opened today (27), the Department of Irrigation states.

Of the five gates at Yaan Oya, three gates were previously opened by one and a half feet each, and the remaining two gates were opened by one foot each today (27), according to the department.

Irrigation Engineer Champa J. Kasthuriarachchi, who is in charge of the reservoir, states that these five gates release a water volume of 6,550 cubic feet per second.

The water level in the reservoir is 111,946 acre-feet. Due to this, people in the following areas are asked to be vigilant: Gomarankadawala, Morawewa, Kuchchaweli, and Padavi Sri Pura, which are on the right bank belonging to the Trincomalee District, and Padaviya, K...
