Sri Lanka, Aug. 15 -- An employee of the Airport and Aviation Services Limited has been arrested in Minuwangoda with a cache of weapons.

According to police, the suspect is a security officer for the entity.

He is also a former president of the Sri Lanka Freedom Employees' Union of the Airport and Aviation Services Limited.

Based on a tip-off, police searched his home this morning, August 15, and found the weapons hidden in a bag.

Police seized a T-56 firearm with 14 bullets, three pistols with six 9mm bullets, and nine 2.2mm bullets.

Officers also discovered three swords and two daggers.
