Srilanka, Dec. 2 -- Air quality conditions across the island deteriorated.
By last night, the air quality index in the Western Province reached a level considered very unhealthy for health.
Furthermore, the air quality index in the Anuradhapura and Ratnapura districts is currently at an unhealthy level.
It is stated that the change in wind patterns following the movement of the cyclonic storm Ditwa towards India caused dust particles to enter the country's atmosphere, leading to this situation.
Director of the Air Quality and Noise and Vibration Monitoring Unit at the Central Environmental Authority, Vernika Ranawakearachchi, indicated that this situation is likely to continue for the next few days.
