Sri Lanka, March 25 -- Air Force Media Spokesperson Group Captain Eranda Geeganage stated that the exact cause of the Wariyapola jet crash remains unknown as the report from the seven-member investigation committee has not yet been received.

This follows Transport and Civil Aviation Minister Bimal Ratnayake's claim that the accident was caused by an error made by two trainee pilots.

The K8 fighter training jet belonging to the Sri Lanka Air Force crashed in Upper Minuwangate, Wariyapola, on the 21st. The two pilots ejected safely and escaped serious injuries.

The Air Force Commander appointed a seven-member committee to investigate the accident, and the SVR system containing flight data was recovered.
