Srilanka, Nov. 27 -- The fishing industry in the Trincomalee district completely collapsed today (27) due to adverse weather and cyclonic conditions, according to fishers.
Multi-day and one-day fishing vessels, as well as small-scale fishing operations, shut down following warnings issued by the Department of Meteorology, the Disaster Management Centre, and the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, and due to rough seas.
Multi-day fishing vessels are currently anchored at the Trincomalee Fisheries Harbour, and dinghies and canoes were pulled ashore along the coastline and tied together with ropes.
