Sri Lanka, April 12 -- Acting Inspector General of Police Priyantha Weerasuriya has instructed all police officers to refrain from collecting financial donations from fellow officers or the business community to organize Sinhala and Tamil New Year parties at police stations.

He has also directed that no gifts should be given to senior officers during New Year greetings and has emphasized that no officer should accept any money or gifts offered.

The Acting IGP warned that disciplinary action will be taken against any officer who violates these instructions.
