Sri Lanka, July 8 -- Abdul Wazeeth was sworn in as a National List Member of Parliament for the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC).

He fills the vacancy created by the resignation of M. S. Naleem.

The swearing-in took place today (8) during the ongoing parliamentary session.

This appointment was made under Section 64 (5) of the Parliamentary Elections Act No. 1 of 1981.
