Sri Lanka, April 27 -- A 21-year-old from the Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) has died after falling off the ramparts at Galle Fort.

The student, a resident of Wakwella, Hapugala, was visiting the Galle Fort with a group of fellow students.

Police report that the incident occurred near the old lighthouse.

However, none of the student's companions witnessed the fall.

Police officers transported the critically injured youth to the Karapitiya National Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival, according to hospital sources.
