Sri Lanka, Feb. 4 -- The death of a 76-year-old woman found inside a line room in Thiriwanaketiya Estate resulted from severe injuries to her skull and brain, according to the Judicial Medical Officer at the Kalutara Nagoda Teaching Hospital.

Agalawatta Police identified the deceased as Perumal Lechchami, a resident of the Store Line in Thiriwanaketiya Estate, Mahagama.

The investigation began after the police emergency unit received a tip on the night of the 31st regarding a body inside the residence.

Responding officers found the woman lying face up in the kitchen area with significant bleeding from her head.
