Sri Lanka, March 7 -- A total of 36,000 acres will be newly planted with coconuts this year, with 16,000 acres allocated to the Northern Coconut Triangle and 20,000 acres in other regions, according to Plantations and Community Infrastructure Minister Samantha Vidyarathna.
Speaking at the Ministerial Consultative Committee on Plantations and Community Infrastructure in Parliament, Minister Vidyarathna stated that 2.5 million seed coconuts will be produced this year to boost coconut cultivation. Deputy Minister Sundaralingam Pradeep also participated in the discussions.
