Sri Lanka, July 9 -- The United States has formally published its new tariff rates for imports from Sri Lanka. This development, conveyed in a letter from the White House to Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake dated July 9, 2025, sets a 30% tariff on all Sri Lankan goods starting August 1, 2025.
The letter to President Dissanayake explicitly states, "Our relationship has been, unfortunately, far from Reciprocal. Starting on August 1, 2025, we will charge Sri Lanka a Tariff of only 30% on any and all Sri Lankan products sent into the United States, separate from all Sectoral Tariffs."
