Sri Lanka, Aug. 17 -- A total of 257 people have died from drowning so far in 2025, according to the police.

The deaths include 220 men and 37 women.

The statistics were provided by Police Media Spokesman and Assistant Superintendent of Police F. U. Wootler.

Meanwhile, the Police Lifesaving Division has rescued 69 local tourists and 33 foreign tourists from drowning accidents during the same period.
