Sri Lanka, July 11 -- Pakistani police have arrested 149 individuals, including 2 Sri Lankans, during a raid on a scam call centre in Faisalabad.

Pakistan's National Cybercrime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) reported that the operation was launched based on intelligence about the network operating in the city.

The NCCIA stated that the centre was involved in Ponzi schemes, defrauding people by promising large returns under the guise of fake investments.

Among those arrested are 78 Pakistani nationals, 48 Chinese, 8 Nigerians, 4 Filipinos, 2 Sri Lankans, 6 Bangladeshis, 2 from Myanmar, and 1 Zimbabwean.

The agency also noted that 18 of the 149 arrested individuals are women.
