Sri Lanka, Feb. 11 -- Police Media Spokesperson SSP Buddhika Manatunga has announced that 17 police officers have been permanently dismissed from service in the past four months for drug addiction.

Intelligence agencies identified officers using drugs while on duty, leading to the creation of a list of offenders. Acting IGP Priyantha Weerasuriya has sent the list to all senior officers.

Investigations are being conducted on the listed officers, who will undergo medical tests. If drug use is confirmed, they will be dismissed from the police service.
