Sri Lanka, April 16 -- A total of 168 complaints have been received so far in connection with the upcoming local government elections, according to the Police Media Division.

Of these, 132 complaints relate specifically to violations of election laws.

Authorities have also reported that 79 individuals have been arrested in connection with various incidents, including assaults.

Notably, among those arrested are 18 candidates who are contesting in this year's local government elections.
