Sri Lanka, Feb. 23 -- Health authorities report that 14 individuals died due to rabies in the country over the past year.
Investigations reveal that the majority of these fatalities resulted from contact with domestic pets kept at home.
The highest number of deaths occurred in the Puttalam, Kurunegala, and Ratnapura districts.
Doctors emphasize that once a person begins to show symptoms of the disease, there is a 100% fatal risk.
