Sri Lanka, Feb. 12 -- The Acting Inspector General of Police has ordered the immediate transfer of 139 Officers-in-Charge (OICs) across the country.
Notably, some of the transferred officers' posts have been abolished, and they have been reassigned to general duties. This marks the first time in Sri Lankan police history that such a large number of OICs have been transferred simultaneously.
The reshuffle includes 105 Chief Inspectors of Police and 34 Inspectors of Police.
Acting IGP Priyantha Weerasuriya approved the transfers with the consent of the Secretary of the National Police Commission.
