Sri Lanka, Feb. 12 -- A 12-year-old boy named Chamindu Vinod died on the spot in a motorcycle accident while attempting to overtake a lorry carrying firewood in Mahakumbukkadawala, police said.

The victim's father, a firewood cutter, was transporting firewood with a lorry while riding a motorcycle with his son and another person. While trying to overtake the lorry, the motorcycle lost control and overturned. The father and the other rider were thrown to the side of the road, while the boy was thrown off the road and died instantly.

The father and the other injured rider have been hospitalized, police confirmed.
