Sri Lanka, May 8 -- 12 people were hospitalised after the van they were travelling in collided with a container truck, which was stopped by the side of the Matara-Akuressa main road, near the Palatuwa entrance to the Southern Expressway.

The collision occurred this morning (8), and the injured persons were admitted to the Matara General Hospital for treatment.

They were travelling to Matara from the Bandaranike International Airport at the time of the collision.

Malimbada Police are conducting further investigations.
