Sri Lanka, Sept. 8 -- A suspect wanted in connection with the chemicals found buried in Middeniya has been identified as a former police officer, who was arrested for murdering a parliamentarian.
Police are searching for Sampath Preethi Viraj Manamperi on suspicion of burying 'ice' drug-making chemicals in an abandoned land in Kariyammaditha, Middeniya.
Police stated that Manamperi was previously arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for shooting the Tamil National Alliance MP Raviraj in Narahenpita.
He was later acquitted, but several other cases against him are still pending in the court.
