India, Feb. 3 -- The BJP on Tuesday elected Yumnam Khemchand Singh as the legislature party leader in Manipur. Khemchand will take oath as the next chief minister of Manipur.

The decision came after a meeting of BJP MLAs from Manipur held in Delhi, days ahead of the end of President's rule in the northeastern state. Following the BJP MLAs' meeting, NDA partners in Manipur also met Tuesday.

The BJP parliamentary board had on Monday appointed Tarun Chugh as the central observer for election of Manipur legislative party leader.
