India, April 8 -- As Donald Trump's sweeping tariffs have alarmed markets and threatened to disrupt international trade, the US President on Monday appealed to Americans to have faith in his policies. "Don't be a PANICAN (A new party based on Weak and Stupid people!)," he told Americans in a social media post.

While Trump's aides defend his trade policies, an increasing number of prominent voices inside his Republican Party have joined opposition Democrats and foreign leaders in criticising them.
