New Delhi, May 9 -- Social media platform X on Thursday began blocking access to over 8,000 accounts in India following executive orders from the Union government.
According to X, the government directed the micro-blogging platform to block accounts belonging to international media outlets and other prominent users.
"To comply with the orders, we will withhold the specified accounts in India alone. We have begun that process. However, we disagree with the Indian government's demands," the platform said in a post on its Global Government Affairs handle.
