India, Nov. 19 -- World Toilet Day is being observed in multiple cities across the globe on Wednesday, November 19. While this may lead to some guffaws among people, the importance of toilets is no laughing matter. The World Health Organization (WHO) shared some eye-opening facts about toilets and what the lack of them means for the health of people around the globe.
As per the WHO, 3.4 billion people around the world are still without a 'safe' toilet. This means that 1.4 million people die every year due to 'inadequate access to water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH)'.
