New Delhi, April 9 -- March this year was the second-warmest ever globally, after March 2024, and marked the 20th month of the last 21 that saw global-average surface air temperature that exceeded 1.5 degrees Celsius over the pre-industrial level, Copernicus Climate Change Service (3CS) said on Tuesday. The average surface air temperature of 14.06 degrees C, was 0.65degC above the 1991-2020 average and 1.60degC above the pre-industrial level for March.

Further, the 12 month period of April 2024 - March 2025 was 0.71degC above the 1991-2020 average, and 1.59degC above the pre-industrial level.
