New Delhi, May 7 -- The parliamentary standing committee on empowerment of women held its first session of the year on Tuesday, with the discussions centering on cybercrimes against women -- including the online harassment faced by Himanshi Narwal, the widow of Lt. Vinay Narwal who was killed in the Pahalgam terror attack. A committee member, speaking anonymously, said the panel focused on social media trolling, AI-enabled abuse, and online stalking. While the session lacked a fixed agenda, members raised issues such as women's workforce dropout rates, mental health challenges, and struggles of farmers' widows.
