Haldwani, Aug. 25 -- A 50-year-old woman was arrested in Haldwani, after she allegedly stabbed her sister-in-law over a taunt on her weight, police said on Sunday. The victim, Pushpa Singh (40), was on a walk with her sister-in-law Deepa Devi and another relative on Friday evening when a quarrel broke out between the two, police said, adding that the spat escalated into a scuffle and Deepa allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed Pushpa in the stomach. The victim's family alleged that the dispute arose because Pushpa called Deepa "moti" (fat) a few days back, but the latter did not react back then.
