PRAYAGRAJ, Jan. 31 -- A 22-year-old school teacher was allegedly burnt alive by a stalker in Pratapgarh district of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday, police said.

The incident took place in Chandoka village when the woman, along with her 15-year-old cousin, was going to the school and the accused intercepted them. After a heated exchange, the accused allegedly poured petrol and set her afire. He, too, sustained burn injuries in the attack, police added.

On receiving information, a police team led by additional superintendent of police (east) Durgesh Singh and circle officer (city) Shivnarayan Vaish rushed to the spot. Police also recovered their mobile phones from the spot.
