India, Aug. 23 -- A woman reportedly got buried beneath the debris and a man is missing after a cloudburst in the Tharali tehsil of Chamoli in Uttarakhand. The cloudburst reportedly took place last night, and the debris entered several homes, including that of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, causing widespread damage.

Visuals from Saturday morning showed houses and roads in a damaged state, with trees uprooted and vehicles around covered in mud and debris.

"A 20-year-old woman named Kavita has been buried, and a man named Joshi is missing. NDRF and SDRF teams moved to the spot last night," said Chamoli ADM, Vivek Prakash, adding that floods have blocked roads and authorities are engaged in relief work.
