India, April 10 -- Bengaluru's municipal body, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), has introduced a new Solid Waste Management (SWM) user fee-popularly known as the garbage tax-aimed at covering the costs of garbage collection, transportation, processing, and disposal.
The fee, which ranges from Rs.10 to Rs.400 per month depending on the size of the property, applies to all homeowners, including those living in independent houses, apartments, and even vacant plots.
