India, May 13 -- The wife of a Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) jawan, who had to leave for the border, died while undergoing treatment for post-delivery complications after giving birth to her child.

The child, who is now 15-days old, is currently with her extended family in Odisha's Jharsuguda district, according to a PTI news agency report.

Arrangements were being made to bring her father back from the India-Bhutan border in Arunachal Pradesh.

"I express my condolence over the sad demise of the jawan's wife. We are making all arrangements to bring back the jawan so that he can attend the funeral of his wife," Odisha's Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari told reporters.
