India, Dec. 8 -- Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt and his wife were arrested by the Udaipur Police on Sunday in Mumbai. The couple's arrest was in connection with a complaint filed against them by a businessman who had produced one of Vikram's recent films, with allegations of fraud.
The Bhatts were arrested in a Rs.30 crore cheating case registered in Rajasthan. Vikram and Shwetambari Bhatt, along with six others, are accused of defrauding Udaipur-based Dr Ajay Murdia, founder of Indira Group of Companies. A police official told PTI, "Murdia, owner of Indira IVF Hospital, wanted to make a biopic on his late wife. He has alleged that he was promised earnings of Rs.200 crore. But nothing materialised, after which Murdia approached Bhopalpura police...
