India, Jan. 28 -- A veteran meteorologist from CBS and devoted father tragically lost his life in a plane accident when his aircraft struck a power line and descended into a frigid river in rural Idaho.

Roland Steadham, 67, who served as the chief meteorologist at CBS2, a Boise-based CBS affiliate, was among the two people killed in the plane crash that occurred on Tuesday over the Payette River near Emmett, Idaho.

Data from online flight records state that the plane lost communication at 10:55 a.m., just 12 minutes after its departure from Emmett Airport.
