India, March 10 -- Prince Frederik of Luxembourg passed away on March 1 in Paris. However, his family didn't officially announce the news of his passing until recently. The 22-year-old member of the royal family battled a rare genetic disorder known as POLG mitochondrial disease until his dying breath.
"It is with a very heavy heart that my wife and I would like to inform you of the passing of our son, The POLG Foundation Founder and Creative Director, Frederik," his father, Prince Robert of Luxembourg, revealed via the POLG Foundation website.
