New Delhi, Jan. 24 -- The Capital recorded widespread light to moderate rainfall on Friday, with overcast skies and gusty winds making for a fairly cool day. Delhi logged a total rainfall of 19.8mm on the day, the highest single-day spell recorded in January in three years. The last time it was higher was on January 30, 2023, when 20.3mm of rainfall was recorded. The rain and overcast conditions meant the difference between the day's maximum and minimum temperature was barely two degrees- highly unusual for this time of the year. The minimum temperature was 13.7 degrees Celsius (degC), which was six degrees above normal and the highest for Delhi in January in four years. It was 13.8degC on January 9, 2022.
