Chennai, Aug. 5 -- Vietnamese giant VinFast on Monday rolled out their first electric car from its production unit in Tamil Nadu's Thoothukudi district, 18 months after the investment was announced. Chief minister M K Stalin oversaw the first car coming out of the production line at the greenfield factory. The cars will be for domestic and export markets. Stalin, who was accompanied by Pham Sanh Chau, chief executive officer of VinFast Asia, said that Tamil Nadu was the electric vehicle (EV) capital of India, since more than 40% of the electric cars, scooters, and three-wheelers in the country are manufactured in the state.
