India, March 3 -- Body-shaming. That's what they call it, right? When you refer to someone's physical appearance in unflattering terms. When you put your foot in the mouth. And especially when you are the spokesperson of a national party.

Shama Mohamed, the Congress party's national spokesperson, stirred the proverbial hornet's nest when she called Rohit Sharma 'fat', among other things, in a since deleted post on X. Even as her comments drew widespread outrage, the party distanced itself from her views while directing her to take down the post. But the damage had been done. Mohamed had made a million enemies with an insensitive, thoughtless and totally uncalled for observation. So much for decorum.
