New Delhi, April 7 -- India's ongoing free trade negotiations with the European Union and the United Kingdom have got a boost because of the April 2 tariff action by the US, with the EU indicating a softer stance on non-trade issues and the UK sounding keen to fast-track the talks, officials said.

The US decision to impose reciprocal tariffs ranging between 10% (base tariff across the board) and up to 50% on individual countries has disrupted global trade dynamics. Derisking and diversification of trade and supply chains have become imperative, a top official, who did not wish to be named, said.
