India, March 12 -- The Karnataka legislative assembly witnessed protests on Tuesday as opposition parties, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal (Secular) [JD(S)], objected to the Congress government's decision to entrust party workers with overseeing the implementation of its flagship guarantee schemes. The opposition called for an immediate dissolution of these committees, arguing that taxpayer-funded programmes should be managed by elected representatives, not political appointees.
