Lucknow/Varanasi, Sept. 15 -- The Uttar Pradesh government on Sunday constituted a three-member SIT to probe the death of BJP worker Sitaram Upadhyay, who died to injuries sustained during an alleged police lathicharge in Ghazipur district last week.
The SIT was formed on chief minister Yogi Adityanath's directive after a BJP delegation met him earlier in the day.
The SIT will probe the incident, which occurred on September 9 in Gathiya village where BJP leaders staged a protest against the installation of electricity poles in the area. Party leaders alleged police resorted to lathicharge, injuring protesters, including Upadhyay who died during treatment.htc
