NEW DELHI, Feb. 7 -- Delhi customs have arrested two men at Indira Gandhi International airport, who were allegedly carrying 10 kg of gold coins worth Rs.7.8 crore.

Officials said the two Indian nationals, aged 45 and 43, were arriving from Milan, Italy and had hidden the gold in specially designed waist belts.

The department in a statement said, "While their baggage scans showed no irregularities, a personal search triggered by Digital Multi-Function Detector (DFMD) alerts led to the discovery of two specially designed waist belts concealing gold coins wrapped in plastic envelopes."

Officials said both passengers were detained on Wednesday and arrested on Thursday for further investigation under the Customs Act, 1962. htc
