New Delhi, April 16 -- An 18-year-old man was killed and his 20-year-old friend sustained injuries when the motorbike they were on was allegedly hit by a speeding truck on Grand Trunk Road in Swaroop Nagar early on Monday, police said.

According to police, the deceased Brijesh Yadav was a daily wage labourer while the injured Kali Charan worked at a roadside eatery. Both are residents of Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar, police said.

The two were going to Libaspur when they spotted a tree fallen on the road. To avoid the tree, they took a cut when a speeding truck rammed them, leaving Yadav dead on the spot. Police said a case under death by negligence has been registered but the truck driver is currently at large and is yet to be arrested....
