India, Nov. 18 -- Maoist leader Madvi Hidma, who is responsible for leading at least 26 armed attacks against security forces and civilians, has been killed after an encounter with police on Tuesday.
As per reports, the top Maoist leader was gunned down in Andhra Pradesh's Alluri Sitharamaraju district.
Born in 1981 in Sukma, Hidma led a battalion of the People's Liberation Guerrilla Army in 1996. Soon after, Hidma became the youngest member of the Central Committee, which is the CPI Maoist's top decision-making body.
The Maoist leader was also the prime suspect in an attack where 22 security personnel were killed in April 2021 in Chhattisgarh.
